A lino print developed through sketches, composition studies and carving, exploring how cats, architecture and sunlight can form a simple visual story.

The main challenge was planning the image in reverse through the lino printing process. I had to think carefully about which areas should remain black, which areas should be carved away, and how the cat shapes, buildings and sun would still read clearly after printing.

I built the composition through sketches first, testing the placement of the cats, buildings and sun before transferring the design onto the lino block. During carving, I focused on controlling line depth, contrast and negative space so the final print would feel clear, bold and atmospheric.
