Sketching With a Pro
A holiday AEP workshop with Singaporean artist James, where we explored urban sketching, perspective, colour and everyday visual storytelling.
The session was light, fun and memorable, showing me how sketching can capture people, places, food and daily life with personality.
The challenge
The challenge was not about making a perfect polished artwork. It was about loosening up and sketching from life with more speed, confidence and observation.

The solution
I treated the workshop as a chance to draw more freely. By following the activities, observing how James approached sketching, and using colour and perspective in a more casual way, I learned to see drawing as something active and enjoyable — not only as technical practice, but as a way to record life. I had to focus less on perfection and more on capturing the feeling of people, movement and place.
