Low Tide Remains
A black-and-white photography series taken around age 13–14 in the coastal countryside of China, where low tide left fishing boats resting in mud, rocks and still water.
Rather than showing the sea as open and scenic, this series focuses on what the tide left behind — stranded boats, muddy shorelines, empty space and quiet rural coastal life.
The challenge
I realised atmosphere does not always come from dramatic subjects. Sometimes it comes from distance, silence, texture and what is left behind.

The solution
I used black and white to focus attention on texture and shape. By keeping the compositions quiet and open, I tried to show the coastline as a place between movement and stillness — where the boats are not sailing, but not abandoned either.
