What I remember most isn’t the drawing — It’s how my dad taught me to use correction tape for the white highlights. No fancy tools. That’s when I realised: art begins with the ordinary.

The challenge

I wanted to combine two famous artworks — Starry Night and the Statue of Liberty — into one picture. It was challenging because they have very different styles. I also wanted to make the sky feel bright and full of movement while keeping the Statue of Liberty as the main focus.

The solution

I used the swirling lines and colours from Starry Night to create an energetic sky behind the Statue of Liberty. To make the stars and highlights stand out, I used correction tape to add small white details. It was a simple technique my dad taught me, but it helped bring the drawing to life and made the night sky shine.
