Singapore, Grown Into the Sky
A SOTA application piece created when I was around 9–10 years old, imagining a future Singapore where nature, technology, fantasy and city life grow together.
This work was one of my earliest serious attempts at worldbuilding, combining references, imagination and detail into one original future-city vision.
The challenge
The main challenge was the ambition of the idea. I wanted to include a city in the sky, giant trees, flowers, neon-like energy, transport, whales, buildings and a futuristic Singapore atmosphere, but it was difficult to make so many elements feel connected in one composition. It was also my first time spending about a week on a single artwork, so I had to stay focused much longer than usual.
The solution
I built the image as a layered world, placing nature, transport, city structures and fantasy elements at different levels of the composition. Instead of drawing only one futuristic object, I tried to create an entire environment with its own logic and atmosphere. The final piece is technically imperfect, but it shows an early instinct for imagination, visual storytelling and designing a world rather than just drawing a scene.
